Born and raised in Germany as the son of Afghan refugees, I know the importance of looking beyond our borders. I’ve made Britain my home, but I see the internationalist spirit that welcomed me is under threat. Our generation is the most connected and globally minded, and we all care deeply how our party represents us on the international stage. The PM has given us respect on the world stage again, and I want YL to be an active part of that renewed internationalist Britain. We must stand for international cooperation, human rights, and solidarity globally with those suffering.
I represented young members at the Young European Socialists and campaigned for greater cooperation with our sister parties on defending Ukraine and countering the far-right. I met with Standing Together and our Palestinian sister party Fateh to ask how Labour Students can effectively campaign to stop the genocide and bring forward a peaceful two-state solution. My time at the Yad Fellowship, working with Jewish and Muslim activists hand-in-hand, taught me that solidarity means listening and standing up for every community facing injustice.
As your International Officer, I will:
Expand cooperation outside of Europe towards our sister parties across the Commonwealth and beyond - a Young Labour more global than ever.
Expand YL International Forum and create more accessible international trips for members.
Push for action for the people of Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and all those facing injustice and persecution around the world.
Internationally campaign for the issues important to all members.
