Every child deserves a life of dignity and opportunity. I believe that every child deserves food, a fair education and a good house. I believe that history has shown us that there is no way to ensure this for every child without a party of the people leading the way. Running as school ambassador, I was elected on a platform of school meal affordability and access to super-curricular opportunities. As an ambassador, I worked with caterers and senior leadership and got my classmates better food and better opportunities. As Student Governor at my Sixth Form College and regular attendee of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs, I have shown that I can represent the will of thousands of students from different backgrounds with competing interests, while doing what’s best for all of us.
Growing up in different areas of the UK has shown me to the hunger, lack of opportunities and inadequate housing that we know children are forced to bear with every day. Fighting and ending idleness, ignorance and want is good fight and it can only be fully fought by a party that is driven by young people. We are the only party that is serious about ending child poverty, and thus, serious about improving the country. Under my watch and with cooperation with our regional representatives, my vision of greater inclusion of young members will be enacted from day one.
My vision is clear. We want action and we want to develop policy that brings justice and dignity to childhood again. Together I believe that we can make Young Labour representative of all young members - a party that we can call home.
