For Ordinary Representative
L3118987
I’m running to be an Ordinary Representative because I want to help build a movement that brings more students in, strengthens our local organising, and actively pushes back against the rise of populism in UK politics.
Growing up in the United States, I’ve witnessed the corrosive impact of populism on our democracy. I’ve been actively involved in the fight for progressive change as a member of Labour and Democrats Abroad. as international populism gains momentum, it’s more important than ever that we continue to learn from and work with our sister parties around the world. Labour Students has always led the way for international engagement, and I want to help continue this.
I’m committed to providing stronger support to Labour clubs, as these are the foundation of rebuilding trust and participation. University campuses are a key arena where political battles are being fought. I want to ensure that students who share our values are brought into the movement by giving Labour clubs the resources to be more visible and by giving members the confidence to articulate our aims.
Finally, I will push for more training sessions and workshops to upskill young members. I developed my skills in canvassing, running boards, digital campaigns, and organising in the local community through my Labour club. This should be available on every campus to make us more accessible for new members and to strengthen our campaigns in every seat.
