Jacob Sammon

For Ordinary Representative

L1943451

I’m Jacob Sammon, and I’m standing to be one of your Ordinary Representatives! I want to:

FIGHT THE FAR RIGHT. Coming from Barnsley, a post-industrial Northern town, where we lost in 2019 but won in 2024, I know first-hand the importance of taking the fight to Reform and the far right. Reform spread hatred into our communities: Britain stands at a crossroads between these politics and ours. I want to focus Labour Students on stopping Farage. Protecting the most marginalised in our society is at the heart of Labour’s mission, and that’s why I will push for Labour Students to be an active, campaigning unit. We must organise to defeat Reform.

LISTEN TO YOU. The heart of Labour Students is our ordinary members. It’s the students who go to Labour soc debates, canvass (slightly hungover) in their uni town on early weekend mornings, and who make friends for life through our movement. We are people-powered. That’s why I will be an accessible member of the committee, willing to raise your concerns with the national Party. Already during this campaign, I’ve heard from members who tell me they want greater collaboration between Labour socs. On committee, I will push for us to create a mechanism which allows Labour socs to connect.

PROMOTE PROGRESSIVE POLICY. Our Party has always been for the workers and most marginalised in society. That’s why I will support motions on Committee which encourage the Party to be on the right track, including on trans and workers’ rights.
